Conservation of altar statue in St. Paul church, Tartu, Estonia. | Tartu Pauluse Kiriku vana altarikuju konserveerimine

Tartu Pauluse Kiriku vana altarikuju konserveerimine

*Update on 11.07.2016:

“I finally completed my MA, and subsequently the practical conservation and theoretical analysis of the altar statue is concluded. The thesis can be found on: Thesis

It was a long road to this point, and I would have hoped to have a complete exhibition of the statue set up by my graduation, but as things lay I doubt it will be completed before the statue’s 100th birthday in 2023. I will however look for opportunities to make it happen, either by donations or some grant project, as it would be a shame to leave things unfinished after years of work.” -HK

I started working as a Collection Custodian in Tartu Art Museum in the fall of 2015, managing the sculpture collection. I completed my MA in the Estonian Academy of Arts in Conservation and Cultural Heritage Management in 2016. I previously studied sculpture and restoration in Tartu Art College, presently focusing on conservation. I also enjoy finding creative expressions when I find the time. Also, as an entrepreneur I take custom orders for sculptures, molds, miniatures, props etc. This site is a brief overview of some of my projects. As an artist I have been interested in different topics, ranging from the relationship between modern humans and nature; sensory experience and ego; site specificity and location. As a conservator, conservation theory and developing a theoretical methodology applicable for traditional heritage and also contemporary art, have been topics I work with. Feel free to contact me about any topic.
